The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences was established in November 2003. It carries out broad theoretical and experimental basic research in the areas of quantum optics and quantum information. Five working groups are engaged in research on its sites in Innsbruck and Vienna. Close cooperation with leading figures within the discipline from all over the world, numerous publications in top scientific journals and many international awards make the IQOQI a key player in the groundbreaking field of quantum physics. The independent research institute has close links with the universities in Innsbruck and Vienna. This is of particular benefit for students and young researchers and integrates the work of the institute into university teaching.
