BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Realizing Spin Hamiltonians In Optical Lattices DESCRIPTION:The quantum simulation of many-body systems with neutral ultra-cold atoms in optical lattices showed fast progress in the recent years. Especially, spin Hamiltonians can now be realized and studied in the lab using Bosons or Fermions. Here we present results on the experimental study of quantum spin Hamiltonians with ultra-cold Bosons in optical lattices. We report on the observation of coherent evolution of a single spin impurity and of Magnon bound states in short range interacting systems. Effectively long range interacting spin systems can be realized using the strong van der Waals interactions of Rydberg atoms. Recently, we observed ordered structures and the dynamical crystallization of Rydberg atoms excited from a Mott insulator.
