BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Bose-Einstein Condensation in a Magnetic Lattice DESCRIPTION:Magnetic lattices based on periodic arrays of microtraps produced by magnetic microstructures provide a promising complementary tool to optical lattices, and have the potential to create lattices of arbitrary geometry and period. However, little has been achieved to date compared with optical lattices, primarily due to the difficulty of controlling the magnetic potentials and inelastic collision losses. In particular, the realization of observable condensate fractions in a magnetic lattice has remained elusive. We will present clear signatures, based on site-resolved RF spectroscopy, for the realization of Bose-Einstein condensation in multiple sites of a 1D magnetic lattice created by a patterned magnetic film on an atom chip. This represents a significant step towards the implementation of magnetic lattices for quantum simulation of condensed matter phenomena in lattices of complex geometry such as triangular, honeycomb, kagomé, super-lattices…… LOCATION:Erwin Schrödinger Saal DTSTART:20140702T163000 DTEND:20140702T173000 TZID: Europe/Vienna END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
