How to manipulate neuronal function in a mouse brain, without wires
Seminar
Speaker: Hans BachorWhen: Jan. 22 2015 15:00

Light is now an indispensable tool among neuroscientists, particularly for the visualisation and characterisation of cells and proteins and for functional imaging. Coherent laser technology with spectral and spatial modulation can make important contributions. We can now study the operation of individual active neuronal cells and will be able to study the properties of interconnected neurons. The talk presents an overview of the present capabilities at ANU to stimulate neurons, modify neurons and test their functionality. Some perspectives for the future research will be given.
