I study the Rabi oscillations of an atom located inside a quantum cavity where each mirror consists of an array of atoms coupled to a one-dimensional waveguide. This proposal was previously studied with the use of Markov approximation, where the delay due to the finite travel time of light across the cavity is neglected. I discuss this approximation and show that Rabi oscillations analogous to that obtained with high-finesse classical cavities are achieved when the travel time is much larger that the response time of each mirror. Hence the delay can not be neglected and the dynamics is inherently non-Markovian. Parameters of interest such as the Rabi frequency and the cavity loss rate due to photon leakage through the mirrors are then obtained.
