BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Taking advantage of colour centres in nano-diamonds: a novel approach for quantum optomechanics DESCRIPTION:Since the early work by Ashkin in 1970, optical trapping has become one of the most powerful tools for manipulating small objects. Also, two very distinct regimes of optical trapping have evolved independently with on the one hand conventional optical tweezers associated to the manipulation of bulky objects, and on the other hand laser manipulation of atoms. We report here on our recent activities, both theoretical and experimental, involving optical forces on projects ranging from sensing to cavity optomechanics. In particular, we are proposing a hybrid approach for quantum optomechanics taking advantages of some of the methods typical from cold atom physics for the levitation of nano-diamonds containing quantum emitters (colour centres).
