BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:Quantum Optics with Atomic Mirrors: From few-photon interactionstowards many-body phases of light DESCRIPTION:
The ability to generate and manipulate quantum states of light via effective photon-photon interactions holds interesting scientific and technological perspectives. This talk will present different approaches to optical nonlinearities that are sufficiently strong to act at the level of individual light quanta and thereby generate effective interactions between photons. In particular, we will consider emerging photon-photon interactions in mesoscopic regular structures of individual atoms and explore their effect on the dynamics of multi-photon quantum states. We will outline an efficient theoretical framework to describe the few- and many-body dynamics of light in such systems under different geometries and consider potential applications of the emerging photon-photon interactions. Prospects for observing exotic many-body behaviour of light will also be discussed.

LOCATION: Erwin Schrödinger Saal, Innsbruck DTSTART:20240403T152100 DTEND:20240403T152100 TZID: Europe/Vienna END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
