BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 BEGIN:VEVENT SUMMARY:The area law and real-space renormalization DESCRIPTION:I will introduce myself and discuss some recent work on real-space renormalization techniques. The real-space renormalization technique works by successively grouping physical regions of the system into larger and larger 'blocks', while simplifying the system at each level (for instance, by truncating the Hilbert space). The simplest of such schemes do not account for all correlations in higher dimensional systems. I identify certain sites which are somehow 'central' to the renormalization that display an exponential improvement in accuracy compared to global averaging (with respect to computational effort)."
