[2010-03-01] High degree of control over cold alkaline-earth atoms has been obtained in recent atomic clock experiments. Peter Zoller and colleagues demonstrate that when such atoms are loaded in optical lattices, they can be used as quantum simulators of unique many-body phenomena.

[2010-03-10] A team of physicists headed by Christian Roos and Rainer Blatt from the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information of the Austrian Academy of Sciences realize a quantum walk in a quantum system with up to 23 steps. It is the first time that this quantum process using trapped ions is demonstrated in detail.
