The Innsbruck-Firenze Joint Meeting on Ultracold Atoms 2023, hosted by the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI) Innsbruck and the University of Innsbruck, continues a long tradition of collaboration between the poles of research in ultracold gases of Innsbruck and Florence. It includes scientific contributions by researchers from the IQOQI Innsbruck, the University of Innsbruck, the University of Florence, the LENS institute and the National Optics Institute of the Italian National Center for Research (CNR-INO), with a focus on the physics of ultracold gases.

The Kick-off of the event takes place on Monday, April 17, at the historical Aula of the University of Innsbruck, with talks focusing on mixtures of different species of ultracold atoms and their interactions. A poster session follows the talks to facilitate a lively exchange on the various research and experiments presented.

Tuesday is dedicated to the emergence of quantum phases of matter in ultracold gases, such as superfluidity, supersolidity and vortices, discussed in detail at the Erwin-Schrödinger-Saal of the IQOQI Innsbruck. In the afternoon, tours of the laboratories of the University of Innsbruck allow the guests from Florence to see first-hand some of the experiments presented during the talks by their Innsbruck colleagues.

Wednesday will conclude the event at the IQOQI, with talks about optical tweezers, lattices and quantum optics in hot atoms.

The InnFi Joint Meeting is supposed to allow an in-depth exchange of ideas and of the latest scientific results between two closely-connected communities of researchers, with the goal of strengthening this connection further and extend the collaboration to new projects.
