ACADEMY SCIENTIST (F/M/X) in experimental quantum physics zu besetzen.
(full-time)

with particular emphasis on dipolar quantum gases and mixtures, and Rydberg physics of multi-electron atoms. The dipolar quantum gas group at IQOQI investigates ultracold gases and mixtures of the strongly magnetic erbium and dysprosium atoms. Academy scientists generally work to the specifications of advanced scientists at the institute and are specialists in subject areas that are of great long-term importance in the research strategy of the group at which they work.

Main tasks:

  • Active research on long-term scientific research projects on dipolar quantum mixtures and multi-electron atoms, ensuring continuity in strongly project-driven fields of work of the dipolar-quantum-gas group, provide documentation, and knowledge management. 
  • Original research publications in leading international journals and presentation in international conferences are expected. 
  • Fostering cooperation with other research groups at the institute. 
  • Support in the supervision of PhD students and Postdocs of the group. 
  • Supporting and taking part in academic administration and service.

Your profile:

  • Completed doctorate (PhD) in Physics with special focus on experimental AMO physics.
  • A minimum 2-years of experience in Postdoctoral research position in the field of ultracold quantum gases and related fields.
  • Experience in experimental quantum-gas research at an internationally competitive level, in publishing results in internationally refereed journals of high quality, and in giving scientific presentations at international conferences and workshops.
  • We are seeking independent, innovative, responsible and team-oriented candidates.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English are mandatory.

Verwaltungsassistenz (W/M/X) zu besetzen

hr Aufgabenbereich

  • Organisatorische und administrative Unterstützung der Institutsleitung
  • Allgemeine Verwaltungsaufgaben (wie telefonische und schriftliche Korrespondenz, Terminkoordination etc.)
  • Personaladministration
  • Administrative Betreuung und Abwicklung von nationalen und internationalen Forschungsprojekten (Drittmittel)
  • Unterstützung bei der Budgetverwaltung und den Budgetkalkulationen (Drittmittel- und Globalbudget)
  • Organisation, Vor- und Nachbereitung von Meetings, Team-Events und Veranstaltungen
  • Informations- und Kommunikationsschnittstelle zwischen dem Institut und der ÖAW Zentrale in Wien

Ihr Profil

  • Berufserfahrung in einer vergleichbaren Position erwünscht, insbesondere in den Bereichen Personalverwaltung und Drittmittelmanagement
  • Ausgezeichnete Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse
  • Ausgezeichnete Team- und Kommunikationsfähigkeit
  • Strukturierte, verantwortungsvolle und genaue Arbeitsweise
  • Verantwortungsbewusstsein, Zuverlässigkeit sowie ausgezeichnetes Zeit- und Selbstmanagement
  • Ausgezeichnete Kenntnisse der üblichen EDV-Programme (Word, Excel, etc.), SAP- Kenntnisse von Vorteil

Junior Group Leader (f/m/x) in Theoretical Quantum Physics

We are searching for an outstanding young scientist in theoretical quantum physics. Successful candidates are expected to establish vigorous research programs and to collaborate closely with research groups in quantum physics at the IQOQI and the University of Innsbruck, as well as to broaden or complement the existing research activities.

All candidates should have a PhD and post-doctoral research experience at a university or comparable research institution. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

We offer:

  • a full-time employment (40h/week), for a period of five years, with the opportunity of an extension of an additional year at an internationally renowned research institution dedicated to cutting-edge research.
  • a negotiable start-up fund for additional positions at PhD and/or PostDoc level, competitive with top-level start-up packages of international career development programs.
  • an annual gross salary of at least € 75.703,04, according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Depending on qualification and experience the salary can be negotiated.
